Court of Claims

Court of Claims
The federal Court of Claims was established in 1855. The Federal Courts Improvement Act of 1982 abolished this Court and created a new United States Claims Court. Combined with the also abolished United States Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, the former Court of Claims became the new United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (C.A.F.C.). The "Trial Division" of the former Court of Claims became the newly created U.S. Claims Court.
A number of states also have courts of claims (e.g., Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio)
